Texas head cach Rodney Terry looked like a hypocrite after Saturday’s college basketball game against Texas A&M. The same guy who threw a temper tantrum over the use of the ‘Horns Down’ hand signal riled up the crowd with his tongue out after a win over his in-state rival.
He was the pot who called the kettle black.
Terry was hired by the Longhorns in 2022 after a three-year stint at UTEP. He won 22 games and reached the Elite Eight in year one. He won 21 games and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in year two.
However, his wins and losses was not the biggest storyline of the 2023/24 college basketball season that involved Terry. His conduct after a loss to UCF at home was the largest talking point.
Terry completely lost his cool and completely freaked out on a group of Knights who threw ‘Horns Down’ at the Texas student section. It was a whole thing. He said after the game that his team wins and loses the right way. He referred to their behavior as “classless.”

In response to Terry’s comments, BYU required its students in the front row to remove t-shirts that spelled ‘H-O-R-N-S D-O-W-N’ for its game against Texas. TCU, on the other hand, went above and beyond to troll the head coach for his ridiculous rampage.
Rodney Terry criticized UCF for throwing ‘Horns Down’ on Jan. 18, 2024. And yet, he acted in a very similar manner after beating the Aggies in epic comeback fashion on Saturday— 374 days later.
As both teams went through the handshake line, Terry stuck out his tongue, yelled “LETS GO!” and egged on the crowd. It was nearly identical to the Knights’ actions last year, just without ‘Horns Down.’

If that was not hypocritical enough, this was not the first incident of this nature. Rodney Terry said that his team “does not jump up and down” or “act like it won a national championship” after conference wins. Except he literally jumped up and down after a win over Baylor last year.
